Taking advantage of the free time on Friday and the weekend, I went on another intense trip~

On May 17th, I took off from Beijing at 2:05 AM and arrived in Kuala Lumpur at around 8 AM. I hardly slept the whole night, but my friend slept very well. (AirAsia's service is hard to describe, but it's cheap, so that's good enough)

Arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 9 AM on May 17th, had a quick bite to eat, and then started preparing to rent a car. Given the tight schedule and heavy tasks, renting a car was essential for efficiency. Since we didn't rent in advance, it was a bit more expensive than expected, costing 440 MYR for two days. However, fuel in Malaysia is only 2.05 MYR per liter, about one-third of the price back home, so it was still cost-effective. Driving in Malaysia was really pleasant. Although it was a right-hand drive car, my companion quickly adapted. Here's a short video.

Arrived in Malacca in the afternoon of May 17th, but it was really hot!!!! Far beyond my expectations.Visited a temple in Malacca, offered prayers as usual, and bought incense for 6 MYR. Then, we wandered around the city and checked in at the Malacca Straits Mosque by the sea.

In the evening, we started driving back from Malacca to Kuala Lumpur. The drive under the sunset was beautiful.

It was a late night, and we didn't fall asleep until around 3 AM. On May 18th, we set off around 10 AM, heading to the next small city, Kuantan (a spontaneous choice since Penang was too far, requiring a 5-hour drive, which we didn't have time for).

Things started to go wrong when we returned to Kuala Lumpur. We got back to Kuala Lumpur at around 11 PM, encountered traffic jams along the way, and were running low on fuel—panic!! But we eventually made it and checked in at the National Mosque and Independence Square, then headed back to the hotel.

We had booked a new place called ONE CEYLON BUKIT BINTANG KUALA LUMPUR. Beware of this place, it's a scam. It seems a few people rented rooms in this building, posing as a hotel but it's actually a homestay. Even the hotels with the same name on Agoda and Ctrip are not the same!!! Can you imagine not being able to reach anyone for check-in after midnight? The hotel front desk said we had to contact the person who made the booking, they couldn't help us check-in. Fortunately, AGODA refunded us. However, because we had to book a hotel at the last minute, the one we stayed in was very poor!!!!!!

It's on the upper floors of this building, everyone be cautious!!

5月19日中午,离开吉隆坡~身心疲惫

goodbye KUL

Summary: Although it was an intense trip, renting a car made it generally not exhausting. The two cards that played a significant role in this trip were Maybank's MAE e-wallet (recommended to open an account, only need a passport, expands your ability to use QR code payments in Malaysia), and Capital One's Venture X (helped me with reimbursements!!!!). Additionally, it's essential to get a TNG (Touch 'n Go) card for driving (costs 10 MYR).

好了,期待我的下一次东马之行。
